IN BINGHAMTON

My niece said for her birthday she wanted to spend the day with me IN BINGHAMTON. I thought about this a lot and realized that for her whole life I’d been telling her that I couldn’t stay, I had to go back to Binghamton. I had to make sure she believed that Binghamton was a good reason for why I couldn’t be there for her all of the time.

So we got Dunkin Donuts for breakfast and then we went to the trampoline park.

We got taco bell for lunch and then we went roller skating and played in the arcade.

We went to a splatter room and threw paint at each other. We went to a smash room and broke things.

At the end I was exhausted and thought about how I used to feel at her age. Like energy was an unlimited resource I would never run out of and I couldn’t understand why adults acted like they were too tired to do things.

I hope when she went home she believed that I lived every day like this and that nothing short of that would ever convince me to leave her in order to go back to Binghamton.
