This is a phrase I heard my sister say to one of my nieces when she wanted them to try a food they didn’t want to eat. In hindsight, going to Nashville was a lot like taking a no thank you bite. We came, we saw, we were ready to go after a day.
That being a said, it was nice spending time with my parents.
My art loving heart swooned over the murals. The neon. The neon, guys.
And biscuits.
If you want to do what I did (with edits from hindsight):
Fly into Nashville in the early morning and take a taxi to Milk and Honey Gulch. Stick your luggage in the rack outside and order biscuits or the almond croissant. Maybe have a mimosa too. Once you are well fed and satisfied head out and around the corner to the famous What Lifts You Mural and take the obligatory picture there.
Unload and head out to Broadway for the main attraction. Walk around until you hear a song you like, then stop in for a drink (or more) and listen to the band. Repeat as needed, remembering to eat and hydrate regularly.
If you’re looking for the same thing but a slightly quieter scene, try Printer’s Alley.
If you want to go to the Music Row Happy Hour with the Highway at Margaritaville then go early in the morning as soon as they open and sign up with the hostess. The show starts at 3pm and they will put you on the reservation list. When you are next in line, they will text you and you can go through security and go up to the second floor of Margaritaville for the live radio show. If you don’t get there early enough, you will not be let in at 3pm. It’s also super unlikely you will get a table and there are long lines at the bar so expect to do a lot of standing and waiting. If you want to meet the host, Buzz Brainard then fill out a sheet and leave it in the bucket by the stage.
