How can I learn to love winter as much as summer?
Why am I thinking about winter right NOW?
Right now I should be thinking about graduation parties without having to wear COVID masks, hot walks down the dusty lake road after dark, fireflies.

Right now I should be loving long summer drives without ice, the Rochester Public Market, visiting my grandma’s spot in Mount Hope Cemetery, wedding showers, ice cream, cold fizzy drinks.

Right now I should be enjoying the blistering heat of a college climbing gym that doesn’t have air conditioning. I should be grateful for eating dinner off a tailgate before going for a swim and a long walk.

Right now I should not be thinking about how to survive winter.
Right now I should be thinking summer thoughts. I certainly hope you are.
