I can’t coin the term Microadventure, that belongs to Alastair Humphreys and the word basically means an adventure that is “small and achievable, for normal people with real lives”. Technically I think it’s supposed to be an overnight adventure but who has time for that, really?
I’ve been thinking a lot about this idea lately and trying to come up with ideas for my own Microadventures to add some spice to a tedious week. But I guess I’m stuck. What exactly qualifies as an adventure? I would say it has to be something outside… and that’s about my only criteria.
So today I took the dog about 3 minutes drive up the hill from our house and parked at the elementary school up there. And then we walked around the block. It was probably only about a half of a mile.

I know this sounds totally lame, we were literally 3 minutes drive from our own neighborhood. But as far as Chief knew it was a completely different world, populated with different dogs and different smells, and it was a WHOLE CAR RIDE AWAY. What a huge and exciting world it is.
Microadventure complete.
