We rolled into Baltimore later than I wanted. We parked on a suburban street and went out to dinner with friends and I finally felt a little warmer.
We saw Washington, DC, including the National archives, the air and space museum, the natural history museum, the White House, the monuments, including the top of the Washington Monument which has been closed all of the other times I have been here.
I’m relieved I can navigate us around the city.
I’m relieved I have friends close by and they meet us for Korean barbecue on our last night in town.
What I will remember most, though, is the campground. I will remember the latent summer energy in it. I will remember the feeling of having been there before as a child even though I never have been. I will remember the glow of the campground street lights and the feeling of it all beginning.
