I Wish You A Nostalgic Christmas

Time goes faster every year and Christmas is always over too soon. It’s funny how something can be sad and happy at the same time. Like nostalgia. Like Christmas morning when all the Christmas mornings of your life come back to you and you remember all the joy and all the years you’ve left behind.

This year was another quiet one as COVID swept through my family and coworkers. Don’t worry, everyone is doing ok. I wonder what the years to come will bring. If “normal” will ever come back to Christmas time.

For my part I don’t mind the quiet, lazy days by the Christmas tree lights, sleeping in and watching Christmas movies.

I also feel restless for warmer days to come, for sunny days with my family. For adventures.

In place of any real adventure, I did the next best thing: the ridiculous. We went to late night movies at the theater, we ate cookies for lunch and cheese boards for dinner. We wore Christmas sweaters and matching pajamas and watched Harry Potter in bed while competing on who could snuggle the dog the longest before succumbing to sore hips or the need to get up and pee.

And it was beautiful.
