First of all, we’re just going to say that Anyssa Lucena of Genuine Climbing is a hero, a role model, a beautiful person, and just an amazing all around individual. If I can be even half as cool as her someday, I will consider myself very lucky.

In mid-July she put on this Sunday Sends: A Day of Mentorship, Community and Learning. It was free, it was for women, and it was full of amazing volunteers and participants.
The two seminars I signed up for were Gear Placement and Hauling Systems. Aside from being wowed by the community itself, what really blew me away was the realization that I knew this stuff. Like guys, I KNOW this stuff. Mind boggling.

Afterwards I climbed “The Yellow Wallpaper” and everything was slimy from the heat, the humidity and sweating so I went home a little sad that all days can’t be perfect climbing days and a little glad that all days can be perfect learning days.
