I just spent 3 perfect days in Acadia National Park. It was beautiful. The temperature was just right.
We climbed at Otter Cliffs.
We hiked the Beehive and South Bubble trails.
We ate lobster rolls.
We were our very best and very happiest selves. At least, I know I was.
And then I came home and I think that I expected to be able to decompress, to get some rest. I thought I’d appreciate the softness of my bed and the safety of my home.
But it didn’t feel like that. It felt like re-compressing. It felt like a weight much heavier than the pack of climbing gear I’d carried over the long weekend. It felt like I had grown, like I didn’t fit inside anymore. If you don’t know the BIG feeling of spending all day outside for days on end, you really need to try it.
